ABOUT ME

My name is Charlotte Babarinsa and I am a 4th year undergraduate student at Oberlin College, where I am double-majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience, and have a particular interest in social neuroscience. I was born and raised in Liverpool, United Kingdom, before coming to the United States to attend Oberlin. I have interned as a regulatory assistant at the chemical company Innospec where I was liaising with poison centers across Europe to ensure that they had the correct information about hazardous chemicals that the company sold into each country.  As an Oberlin College Research Fellow, I have conducted research with Professor Leslie Kwakye for two years, working on a project investigating the neural mechanisms of how attention modulates our ability to integrate information from different senses. As part of this research, I presented my work at conferences including the Society for Neuroscience in Chicago, IL (2019) and ABRCMS in Anaheim, CA (2019). I have also worked with Professor Sara Verosky researching the neural underpinnings of how familiarity and trustworthiness affect the processing of faces using electroencephalography (EEG). In the future, I hope to further pursue a career in social neuroscience research after graduation.

As I continue my professional journey, I like to think of my career as one big learning experience that continuously grows with each project and collaboration. With a dedication to functionality and a curiosity for what’s ahead of the curve, I keep my work practical, relevant and creative. Have a look at my past projects, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
